Katy Tessman's Treasure Trove Tour ~ June 2024
Katy Tessman continues to soar to new heights with her new album, “Fly,” and is set to spread her wings beyond Minnesota. Based in the Twin Cities, Katy has roots in Northern Minnesota; raised by educators, her summers growing up were spent in the forests and lakes of the arrowhead. In support of Katy’s new album “Fly” she is touring outside her home state, making stops in Illinois, Ohio, West Virginia, Tennessee, Missouri, and a homecoming show in St. Paul.

Using the wisdom she’s gained through breast cancer survival, heartbreak, and motherhood, Tessman’s songwriting helps her celebrate life’s stumbles and summits. Tessman’s album “Fly” weaves a tapestry of uplifting melodies and heartfelt ballads, resonating with themes of self-discovery and resilience. “Treasure Trove” celebrates how life can be rich, not with expensive gifts, but with love.
Tessman is also an award-winning children’s book author, celebrated as a CHANGEMAKER by Minnesota Women’s Press. Stories and songs truly heal and Tessman aims to evoke laughter and tears, spread smiles, while fostering a sense of hope and togetherness. Before becoming a mom in 2003 (and again in 2006) Katy Tessman released two albums including Joe’s Elevator’s Up & Down and her solo debut Fall. For nearly a decade, Katy performed throughout Minnesota and tours brought her to stages from Michigan to Washington. During her 20-year hiatus, Katy raised two sons, fought a victorious battle with breast cancer, authored an award-winning children’s book entitled Our Mama is a Beautiful Garden, and was named CHANGEMAKER by the Minnesota Women’s Press. The pandemic sparked a reawakening in Katy's songwriting, igniting a fresh surge of energy to start performing again. This newfound inspiration led to her re-debut in 2022, marking a significant musical resurgence that led to selling out listening-room shows, releasing a handful of singles, and publishing the accompanying lyric picture book Hero Now Crowned which Melodic Noise calls “a passionate tribute.” In addition to curating showcases throughout the Twin Cities, Katy is involved in many outreach events; from organizing a fundraiser concert for the Angel Foundation, to speaking at the MN Young Survivor Coalition gathering and being a guest on the closed circuit television program at Children's Hospital, Katy aims to spread hope and joy, courage and strength. On Sunday, June 30, Tessman will be joined by her band, Katy Tessman and the Turnbuckles, to perform a homecoming concert at the Turf Club. The bill includes The International Treasures, Emily Haavik, and Molly Brandt.
