Katy Tessman’s birthday & 13th year cancer-free celebration
at the 318 Cafe in Excelsior on October 20th at 8:00 p.m.
Full Band Show and Fundraiser for the Angel Foundation.
In October 2009, on her 40th birthday, Katy started her battle with breast cancer and tonight she is celebrating her birthday and 13th year of being breast cancer free with an evening of music and thanksgiving. Katy was a recipient of financial assistance from the Angel Foundation and tonight she is giving back. One third of each paid concert ticket will be given as a donation to Angel Foundation.
Katy’s performances are always straight-from-the-heart and tonight she will be joined on stage by her 19-year-old son Louis Stanoch on electric guitar, former band-mate Tom Leier on bass, and reunited high school friend Kelley Lima on drums. Using optimism and the wisdom she’s gained through breast cancer survival, heartbreak, and motherhood, Katy’s songs move passionately over diverse emotional and musical terrain.

Katy’s shows are always energetic and emotionally uplifting. Unfortunately, cancer has affected most of us in different ways and that is why we are proud to be hosting this special event raising awareness and funds for the Angel Foundation.” ~ Matt Muller, co-owner of the 318 Cafe

Personally, Katy aims to help families find hope during the dark time of a breast cancer diagnosis; she authored an award-winning children's book entitled "Our Mama is a Beautiful Garden," and Katy was named CHANGEMAKER by the Minnesota Women’s Press. DONATE A BOOK: Get a copy of Katy's book into the hands of families when they need it the most. These books are distributed through Gilda's Club-Twin Cities.
