Join Katy Tessman, a young survivor of breast cancer, in celebrating her birthday and the 15th anniversary of being cancer-free. Katy, an award-winning singer-songwriter and author, draws inspiration from her journey, weaving themes of hope, resilience, and the beauty of life into her songs. Her children’s book Our Mama is a Beautiful Garden and the song and lyric picture book Hero Now Crowned have received acclaim for their impactful storytelling and inspirational messages. This event also supports Gilda’s Club – Minnesota, a nonprofit dedicated to aiding individuals and families affected by cancer.
Laura Hugo will set the tone for the evening with her evocative voice and heartfelt songwriting. Her music, which explores themes of love, grief, and mental health, offers a poignant reflection on the healing power of music. Laura’s personal experiences with loss add depth to her performances, making her set a compelling part of the evening. Since my double mastectomy on my 40th birthday, I’ve made it a point to celebrate each year of life after cancer with intention. This year, I’m marking my cancer-versary with a concert to celebrate life, love, and the healing power of music.
